5 industry blogs to add to your reading list
Where do you get your info about professional development, insights into your industry, or just general career tips? Many of us go to trusted places like friends, family, and mentors for advice like this, but that doesn’t take into account the hard-won knowledge of industry leaders who we don’t usually have access to.
People who work hard to get where they are in their careers are usually more than happy to share their wisdom with the next generation of workers. That’s why industry blogs are such a wonderful place to receive advice from those with first-hand experience in your area.
There are a tonne of great blogs out there (*cough cough* including us!) that provide a range of career support to those just starting out, and for those of us who still sometimes feel like we’re treading water years into our employment journey.
Read on to find out more about five industry blogs we love, and how they can help create the future you.
Abintegro Careers Newsroom
As a UTS student, you may be familiar with Abintegro’s career assessments and aptitude tests to prepare you for assessment centres. Now, they’ve launched their Careers Newsroom, full of articles on everything from gaining work experience, to looking after your mental health while working, to leading the way as an entrepreneur.
More than that, the Careers Newsroom is also home to a growing list of internships, grad roles, and other opportunities for students and recent grads.
If you’re looking for on-time advice on all things careers, or for job opportunities available now, head to Abintegro’s Careers Newsroom and log in using your UTS student details.
The Muse
This industry blog is made by young people for young people. The Muse blog contains advice of professional advancement, building skills, diversity and inclusion at work, and so much more!
Like Abintegro, The Muse also has a job board that they update regularly. While there are a massive number of opportunities uploaded every day, many of these are based overseas, so be sure to check out the location before getting your application together.
Head to The Muse if you’re looking for anything between broad career advice to tips about your specific industry.
Indeed
If you’ve started the job search process at any point, it’s likely you will have visited Indeed. But did you know they also have a regularly updated blog?
Home to articles like ‘Beyond Gut Reactions: Improving Your Interview Process with Social Intelligence’ and ‘Women at Work: Choosing to Challenge in the Workplace’, this blog has a nice balance between advice for employers and employees.
As an Australian company, the advice Indeed provides is also particularly relevant in terms of Australian workplace laws, policies, and culture.
For insights by the Indeed editorial team as well as industry partners and independent writers, visit the Indeed blog.
